THE WHITE HOUSE
WASHINGTON

August 5, 1916

My dear Miss Addams:

Of course, I will see Miss Balch very gladly. I did not know that she was in this country.

As I write, I am off for a very much needed absence from Washington for the [weekend], but just so soon as I return to Washington, on Monday morning, I will search my calendar for the earliest possible hour at which I may see Miss Balch and will let her know at the address you give.

I warmly appreciate your approval of my Mexican policy, though the plot thickens as we go.

Cordially and sincerely yours,

Woodrow Wilson [signed]

Miss Jane Addams,
Hull's Cove, Maine.
