My dear Miss Addams:
Your appreciative note and the enclosures came this morning. We are all rejoiced over the prospect of your coming October the first, and hope that it will be possible for you to come, but would not have you take any risk in making the trip.
Everything is going nicely for the meeting. We have disposed of 1200 tickets to people whom we are sure will come, and placed 200 more, some of which we may get back later in the week from people who will not be able to use them. Twenty of the boxes are disposed of, and I have not yet heard from Mrs. Kohlhammer, who has the sale of boxes in charge, and will undoubtedly have more sales to report this morning. The papers are nibbling and we hope to give them just a little more of the details every day so as to keep them interested. Even the Tribune is warming up considerably and are anxious to know the exact date of the arrival of our guests.
Isn't there something that the office could be doing for you in taking some burden of correspondence, or other cares, from your shoulders?
