Chicago, June 11, 1906
Dear Sir:--
I beg to say that at the meeting of the Library Board a few evenings since the committee on renewing permission for the Municipal Museum to occupy certain rooms in the Library Building reported the following recommendations which were unanimously concurred in by the Board:
"1-–. That the Municipal Museum, authorities be granted permission to occupy the room known on the key plan as Room 4, Reading Room Floor, until May 1, 1907, unless requested to vacate the same time on 90 days' notice from the Board, and that they be required upon vacating it to put it in the same condition in which it was when they took possession of the room.
"2-– That the Municipal Museum authorities be required to vacate and put in the condition in which it was when they took possession of it, within 60 days, Room 1, Reading Room floor, being the room immediately below the Directors' room. Your Committee finds that this room will be needed for Library purposes during the coming library year.
"3-– That the Municipal Museum authorities be required to defray one-half the cost of repairing and redecorating the room adjoining the Directors' Room, which was occupied part of the time by the Museum during the past year, in order to put the same in condition to be used for Library purposes."
