Caroline Hedger was a doctor and worked for the Health Department of Chicago. She was known as an advocate for the rights and health of meat-packaging workers in Chicago. She was also the Medical Director and a nutritionist for the Elizabeth McCormick Foundation.

By 1940, Hedger was widowed. Hedger died in 1951.
