Dear Miss Addams
My friend, H. G. Wells, is about to visit America for a few weeks; and I think you would not wish him to come to Chicago without his seeing Hull House. He is a prolific author, his scientific novels having a [page 2] great vogue. But much more important than these, in my view, are his more recent sociological studies, Anticipations, The Making of Man & A Modern Utopia, which have proved really suggestive and instructive criticisms, [likely] [page 3] to have much influence. He is very eager to learn, and I think that Hull House may reveal much to him. He is a most agreeable, stimulating, original person.
With kindest regards from my wife, I am
Yours vry truly
Sidney Webb
