Biographical Text

George Stephen Goodspeed studied at Brown University and at the Baptist Union Theological Seminary at Morgan Park. He preached at the Baptist Church of Sonora in California, then at another church in Springfield, Massachussetts, before going to graduate school at Yale. Goodspeed made contributions to the magazine The Biblical World. He worked as a professor of history and Biblical history at the University of Chicago. He also served on the University Senate, and as University Recorder. Goodspeed died in 1905.
