Dear Comrade

I have meant to write each day since my return but there has been a tremendous whirl and for the first time I have gotten a little fussed. It is partly getting back to one's own dear settlement where many things need adjustment.

I feel greatly indebted to you for all you did to make life so easy and possible [page 2] during the two trips to New York. You were so good to me that I feel humbled when I think of it.

I am writing this early Sunday morning for I take a train at [8.45] for Winona Lake to the Nat. Annual Meeting of the Quakers.

I hope I am getting back to Bar Harbor will [know] my plans better in a few days. We had a tragic day here yesterday, worse news from the terrible disaster came each minute. [page 3]

Always devotedly yours

Jane Addams
