My dear Miss Addams:
You will be delighted to know that everything went off well in presenting the Children's Peace Petition to Mr. Bryan. Enclosed are copies of the Washington papers giving a pretty full account of the presentation of the petition to the Secretary of State.
Mrs. Thomas W. Churchill, wife of the President of the Board of Education of New York City and Mrs. Haryot Holt Dey, President of the Press Club, both came on from New York, and we secured a fine representative committee of women in Washington, and a committee of twelve little girls, dressed in white, to present the petition.
I think that the final presentation of the petition has exceeded the highest hopes of the members of the Committee in its success. Mr. Bryan is going to send copies of the petition to the Ambassadors of all the warring nations and request them to transmit the petition to their rulers.
I want to thank you for your kind helpfulness in reference to the petition. The courage that the members of the Committee gave me, enabled me to go on with the work and I am grateful for the help thus given.
