My dear Mr Taylor
I delayed thanking you for the charming plant with its Christmas greeting because I hoped to call with this book in my hand.
In the general rush I have been unable to do it and at last I have given it up and fallen back upon the kindness of Mr Forstall.
Even Guerin's pictures fail to transmit the beauty of Palestine but I am [page 2] glad to send them as a foretaste of what I hope you will see some day in the reality.
