My dear Alice

I have meant all week to write to you -- but these last days before election have seemed to leave little time for it.

We have all enjoyed Marcet's playing so much. She takes her role with spirit and charm and it has been a very great pleasure to see her. I have a family party next Saturday afternoon for the children & Esther and Weber, & more of the people from the house have been at one time [page 2] or another. Her Grandmother is enjoying the [illegible] and looks much better than she has for a long time. It would be quite perfect if you could be here too. Marcet is looking very well and pretty and is as gay and delightful on the stage as possible.

My love to you, dear, do come early in May for I have to be in Memphis from the 8th to the 10th of May.

Always your loving sister

Jane Addams

P.S. Is it not too sad about poor Mary Fry's sister I felt so sorry for her the day she left.
