My dear Miss Coman: --

Enclosed please find a letter from Dean Lewis. I delayed my reply hoping to hear from him. We have absolutely no money at the present moment, but perhaps we will be able to send some.

May I have a credential properly written out and send it on a day or two later. I am getting off Dean Lewis' letter at once that you may understand my delay.

I thank you very much indeed for the letters to Judge Amos and Sir. Wm. [Willcocks]. I am sure we will be very glad indeed to have them.

May I thank you for the copy of "The Economic Beginnings of the Far West" which came yesterday. I have always been enormously interested in those early beginnings, things which always seem very <curiously> [page 2] near my childhood experiences.

I quite envy you the opportunity to look into this social legislation abroad.

Very sincerely yours,

Jane Addams [signed]

Miss Katharine Coman,
Wellesley.
