My dear Mr. Prosser: --

May I thank you for your very kind letter which reached me a day or two ago just as I was leaving for Pennsylvania. I did not mean to [embarrass] you in any way by repeating a casual conversation, and I think I only referred to it to one or two people. It was merely a desire to clear my mind in regard to your position. The information you sent is most useful and I thank you very much indeed for your kindness in the matter.

Very sincerely yours,

Jane Addams. [signed]
C. [A.] Prosser, Esq.,
