September 28, 1912.

My dear Senator Beveridge: --

I have talked to Mr. Cochens who, as you know, has charge of the Western Speakers' Bureau, and have arranged with him to speak in Indianapolis on the evening of Monday, October 14th.

He was anxious to have me speak once in Gary or Hammond and suggested for that the evening of the 15th on my way back from Indianapolis. If these dates are convenient for you I shall be very happy to consider them settled. I have an appointment to speak in Fanueull Hall in Boston on the 13th. I suppose there will be no difficulty in reaching Indianapolis by the 14th. I will look that up this morning at headquarters but assuming that it can be done, may we consider those two dates settled. I wish I could do more, not only for the Progressive cause but for the Indiana situation as well.

Thanking you very much for your kind letter, I am

Sincerely yours,

Jane Addams [signed]

Hon. Albert J. Beveridge
Indianapolis, Indiana.
