My dear Alice: --
Perhaps you will excuse a typewritten letter in which to convey the news of the children!
Louise is still in quarantine in <with> Miss Forsblom's room at the Augustana Hospital, but is doing very well. She really had only a very light case but the quarantine had to be just as stringent as if it were severe. Mary's enormous swelling has finally subsided and she will be able to go to school in about ten days.
Mrs. Bowen's daughter is to be married on Saturday at five o'clock, and the day after we are going South for two weeks. My address will be the Hampton Terrace Hotel, Augusta, Georgia. I was awfully sorry to hear about your grip. Am just pulling myself up after three days of something or other -- I don't know what, but it rather resembled bronchitis.
Hastily yours, Jane Addams [signed]
P.S. Bowen Hall was not badly burned, about $3000.00 worth of damage which the Insurance co makes good.
