Dear Madam.

I enclose my card & ask you to do all you possibly can to get me some work. I am a Doctor's widow, & obliged to support two young Boys. I am a stranger in Chicago but have been nursing on the North side during the Winter months. I can be well recommended by all who knows me on that side. I should feel so very much obliged if you [page 2] could possibly place me as soon as possible. I would gladly take a fee of $15 per week to an invalid etc. as I am much in need of work for the support of my children.
