My dear J. Lathrop

I think the Fresh air plan is a very good one. I thought Miss Dupee [went?] to $25.00 for twice a week picnics & 50.00 for [four] days but her understanding would better not be disturbed and I think it most important that we should <have> our lists well done -- if we keep her [through] the summer. [page 2]

Mrs Bowen had told M. R. S. that she would guarantee $3000.00 for the fresh air work with the understanding that all the Music School children would go out [illegible]. Mr Mills was told he could draw up to $1000.00 for his running expenses & $250.00 for equipment. It is awfully nice that the guarantee is being reduced so fast by the goodly checks. I can't tell what was in the mind of Mr Mack when [page 3] I left [although] I had a talk with him. Will you try to see if his feelings were hurt & what is the matter. I told him he was not brought up for residence because he could not <be> back next year. He seemed to understand that, but there was something else.

It has been an awfully nice conference and the [Con.] [first?] [Com.] on drunkenness are the best of all. I will write from Hull's Cove. I am so sorry you weren't here. A. Hamilton & the lady send their love.

Always yrs J. A.
