Biographical Text

Andrew Cunningham McLaughlin was a historian during the early twentieth century. McLaughlin wrote about American Constitutional history. His most famous work was A Constitutional History of the United States, which he won the 1936 Pulitzer Prize for. In addition to being a historian, McLaughlin was a professor at the University of Chicago and served as president of the American Historical Association. McLaughlin also served as an editor of the American Historical Review.

Andrew C. McLaughlin married Lois Angell in 1890. The couple had four children together, one son and three daughters. McLaughlin died in 1944.
