Your uplifted letter came today and quite reassured me as to "the value and charm of life" which I was deeply doubting. We had the meeting on the strike at the Woman's Club today and after all the talk and fuss, I had grave doubts about the value. It went off very well [although] we were all afraid of saying anything which might interfere [page 2] with the City Hall negotiations.
I saw Mrs [Hamill] a moment at [illegible] others of your friends. Isn't it fine that you will be back for the concert. I hear the children singing the Xmas songs at I write. I do hope you will have a good visit with Miss Wald. I know, Dearest, what a long lonely pull it has been.
