Miss Jane Addams,
Hull House, Chicago, Ill.

My dear Miss. Addams:-

Dr. Cope was good enough to send me the proof of your address and I want to thank you for it. I have not found the exact quotation that I expected to find but I have found far more. Your address traces with a delicate hand the small and fragile outreachings toward a new religious life. It shows how <even in> persons who started by being non-religious and simply ethical the religious feelings and desires and convictions asserted themselves and are gaining in strength. That is exceedingly interesting and valuable to me. Thank you very much for the address.

Very sincerely yours,
Walter Rauschenbusch [signed]
