Dear Miss Addams,
It was good indeed to get a word from you and the charming etching with all it implies will be most highly regarded. But the [day] is all on our side. To have you with us for even a very short time means more than I can [easily] put into words. In these sad perplexing times one is so grateful for the word that gives courage to go on. I thank you over [page 2] and over again.
Poor China, poor world. If only American women would play the part that becomes of her strength it is her duty to play.
