Elizabeth Kimball Kendall to Jane Addams, January 14, 1924

January 14, 1924.

Dear Miss Addams,

It was good indeed to get a word from you and the charming etching with all it implies will be most highly regarded. But the [day] is all on our side. To have you with us for even a very short time means more than I can [easily] put into words. In these sad perplexing times one is so grateful for the word that gives courage to go on. I thank you over [page 2] and over again.

Poor China, poor world. If only American women would play the part that becomes of her strength it is her duty to play.

With all good wishes for the New Year.

Most sincerely yours

Elizabeth Kendall
