Miss Jane Addams,
Peking, China.

My dear Miss Addams:

I have just received your address from our National Office, and I hasten to write and tell you how California is hoping that you are returning to the United States via our Golden state.

We have anticipated that you would want to be here to attend the World Educational Conference June 28th, but our office writes that you may not return before July or August.

The Manager of the Hotel Whitcomb Hotel has assured me he will be most happy to place a suite of rooms at your disposal. This is a new hotel since you were here, situated at the Civic Center and close to the Auditorium in case you were here for the Conference.

We have been here all winter. Mr. Cumberson's health has been so poorly that we have been compelled to remain in San Francisco.

I am being asked repeatedly if you will consider speaking engagements while in Calif. Is there any information you would like to give out in regard to your plans? If I can serve you in any way I hope you will command me.

With best wishes for your good health, I am,

Most sincerely yours,

Katherine D. Cumberson. [signed]
