Biographical Text

Moorfield Storey, a Harvard graduate, was best known as a lawyer based in Massachusetts; he was the president of American Bar Association in 1896. After serving as a secretary to Charles Summer, Storey was inspired to work for African American people and was later elected as the founding president of National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. He also penned books titled "The Reform of Legal Procedure," and "The Negro Question."

Moorfield married Gertrude C. Storey in 1870. They had five children together. Moorfield died in 1929.
