Dear Miss Addams:

I am writing bright and early to find out if you are coming to New York this next winter and if so if you can arrange to speak at our Forum on a Sunday evening. After three very trying years in which we have had no home of our own, our Forum is to meet in our new church auditorium which will be one of the finest in this city. We are planning a gala program in celebration of this event and want you to appear bright and early. If you could promise us a date as early in the year as possible, in November or December, I should feel greatly pleased and highly honored.

If you have a chance will you give my greetings to my dear friend and parishioner, Miss Katherine Vesey, who I suppose is still at Hull House. When I last heard from her she was radiantly happy in the work that she was doing. She is a fine girl and I rejoice that she is working with you, the only regret being that she is too far away from New York.

I am going to Europe this summer primarily to speak at the Conference of the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom at Varese, August 16th to September 2nd. I am planning to travel also to France, Germany and Austria. Are there [any?] people whom you think I ought to see and is there anything that I can do on behalf of the organizations and work in which you are interested? I would be glad to serve you in any way that may be possible.

Very sincerely yours,

John Haynes Holmes [signed]
