My dear Miss Addams:

I wish to write a single line to express to you my appreciation of your most admirable article in the last number of Charities entitled, "The Chicago Settlements and Social unrest." It seems to me that you have handled a difficult subject with singular tact and skill and have put all those who are interested in soical progess and in conserving the results which have been won by the patient labors of the last fifteen or twenty years under a permanent debt.
