335 SOUTH HALSTED STREET
CHICAGO

My dear Alice

I tried to get you a copy of Gorky's "Mother" for Christmas. It seems to me the most remarkable book I read last year. As the new copy has not yet come I am sending you mine and perhaps we can change some time. I [give?] with all affection and wishes for a Merry Christmas. I hope that Marcet will stop at Hull-House and let me take her to Dr Fuller, and of course be here as [page 2] long as the treatment is necessary. He is a very skillfull occulist. We will do the very best we can for the little girl. I have been all [through] the eye difficulty you know. There is really nothing worse. I am so glad that the [illegible] is now leaving you in such good condition. It must give you a new feeling of security-- Always your loving sister Jane Addams
