PHELPS & DODGE
34 WABASH AVENUE

Chicago, Nov. 28 1905.

Miss Jane Addams,
c/o Hull House Association,
Chicago.

My dear Miss Addams:

I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed last evening. It was something I had never seen before, and was a great surprise to me to know how much one person can do towards helping the poor and downtrodden in life.

You certainly stand alone as one of the greatest characters I have ever known in what you have accomplished, and I congratulate you upon your wonderful achievements.

I sent you one of Mr. Dodge's pictures over to the Association House [today]. It is one I had framed and I thought you would like to have it. I think it is a very good likeness of him, and I hope you will enjoy having it as much as I do in sending it to you.

Thanking you for the courtesy shown me the other night, I have the honor to be, with very great respect

Yours very truly,
Erskine M Phelps [signed]
