My dear Mrs. Eisendrath: --

May I thank you for Miss Paeff's relief which reached me here yesterday. We shall put it up at Hull-House and I am sure you know how much I appreciate your kindly thought of us.

People on the whole like it better than any other portrait, either in color or clay, yet made of me. We had a long line of dismal failures, as perhaps you know, beginning with George de Forest Brush.

Hoping to see you soon and assuring you again of my great appreciation of your kindness, I am

Sincerely yours,

(signed -- Jane Addams)
