Dear Lady

It's shockingly late to be making a payment on education, I know for Sara's bills were presented long since and all possible "courses" seem to be payable in advance.  I've been very careless about this. Do pardon me.  I send the small [check] with much joy and with the conviction that it is the only bit of my dishonestly come by [help?] which is well spent.

J.A. clamors for me to go calling in the neighborhood.  Your friend [page 2] Mrs. Orr is ill.  Mrs Henson is beginning to stagger around after a long illness and most of the neighborhood seems to be prostrate.

The lady sends her love.

We all look forward with eagerness to your coming next month.

Always affectionately yours

Mary R. Smith
