My dear Marcet

I am writing this letter to show that H. H. isn't always hard hearted! and to say good bye to you before we take the three o'clock train for New York.

I am going down to attend a rather important meeting with the foreign ladies who are here from The Hague Congress, but the doctor says it is too soon for Chicago [page 2] so that Mary and I are going to Atlantic City for a few days. We will be at the Hotel Chelsea, but at H H. very soon after that.

I do wish that you had a "companion" -- I don't like the sound of those lonely evenings. Always yours devotedly Jane Addams
