Biographical Text

Nettie Caroline Manthei Howe was a member of the Suffrage Press Committee in Coldwater, Michigan. She attended the Northern State Normal School and the Chicago Kindergarten College. She was a member of the National Grange society. In 1917, Howe won first place in a story-writing competition held by the Twentieth Century Club, winning with the story "The Long Road."

Howe was married to Lloyd W. Howe, though they divorced in 1924. Howe died in 1955.
