Biographical Text

Augustin Daly was a playwright and manager. Early in his career he was the manager of the Fifth Avenue Theater. He later built Daly's Theater in New York and London. As a playwright he was known for adapting old plays in obscure ways. His best known work is Under the Gaslight. Daly died in 1899.
