Biographical Text

Estelle A. Davies Williams was an advocate for women's rights in her native Ohio. She started out working as a librarian in a public library. In 1915, Jane Addams appointed her to be the first secretary of the Ohio Woman's Peace Party and, from then on, that position began to occupy the majority of her time. Williams was responsible for centralizing the Ohio chapter of the party to Cleveland and growing it through a series of events and speakers. She supported women's suffrage.

Williams married Raymond L. Williams in 1913, though their marriage ended in divorce. The couple had two children together. Williams died in 1965.
