Dear Miss Addams:

I have your note. It is entirely likely that I shall be in Chicago within the next two or three weeks. Before starting, I shall try and find out whether it will be possible to have an interview with you then. I believe that the plan of conducting a regular department in McClure's offers an admirable opportunity to express your ideas to an audience of a half a million people and I am in strong hopes that the matter can be presented to you in such a way that you will feel that you can undertake the job.
