My dear Miss Sanders: --
There was of course a great deal of unworthy writing in regard to Colonel Roosevelt during the campaign, but I hope it will all die down and be forgotten now as it deserves to be.
In regard to Miss Shaw, she felt that it was a mistake for the women to identify themselves with any one party, and the traditions of the National Suffrage Assoc. are with her there. I do not agree with her, but I am sure that the officers are able to differ in opinion without clashing with each other and I do not dream of wishing any action taken against the President for her stand.
Thanking you for your kind letter, and hoping the Progressives may be successful in time, I am
Sincerely yours,
Jane Addams [signed]
