JANE ADDAMS

Miss Jane Addams was decidedly [page 2] interesting when discussing the "Pax Special." She believed that the delegates to the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom would return home "a little bit disillusioned in regard to Canada and the United States. I was inclined to stop the 'Pax Special' when it met with opposition from [returned] soldiers, but we decided to go on with it. I think the women from Europe were surprised. They didn't realize what the situation was over here. What surprised them the most is this: In all European countries the best representation we get is from returned soldiers."
