Biographical Text

Bernard Flexner was a lawyer at Flexner, Campbell & Gorden. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Flexner owned a printing company with his brother Washington, called Flexner Brothers. After becoming a lawyer, he owned his own private practice from 1898 until 1903, when he joined Bodley, Baskin & Morancy; he returned to having his own practice in 1905. In 1911, he created Flexner, Campbell & Gorden with J. Wheeler Campbell and Robert S. Gordon. In 1914, Flexner moved to Chicago and became involved with Samuel Insull and his utility empire. He was also a member of the Zionist Organization of America and was a counsel for the Zionist delegation to the Paris Peace Conference in 1918, as well as president of the Palestine Economic Corporation and a founder of the Council on Foreign Relations.

Flexner died in 1945.
