My dear Mrs. Dummer:

I have looked up the reference in Youth in Conflict and of course, agree with it. We absolutely misunderstood each other that morning. I was merely contending for the historical statement for that particular spot and not the statement of where we are now. I doubt if page 106 could have been written fifteen years ago!

It was a great pleasure to be identified with you in the Anniversary which I am sure you agree came out finely.

↑Affectionately yours↓ Jane Addams [signed]

P.S. As you know, our Art School is founded ↑on self expression and↓ upon the rescuing of ↑individual↓ values. We have ↑[on]↓ three exhibits now; one in St. Louis, one in Minneapolis, and one in New York. All of the reviews emphasize that point. I am sure I am not lacking in sympathy for it.

Mrs. W. F. Dummer,

Chicago, Ill.
