Miss Addams Supports Stand.
"The question of the law was gone into thoroughly before examinations for the inspectorship were taken," said Miss Jane Addams of Hull House. "The civil service law says that for work requiring expert knowledge candidates from other states are eligible. This was the understanding of Mayor Harrison, the civil service board, and others. It would be impossible to find one better fitted for the place. I believe Judge Hanecy's decision will be reversed. Until then Mr. Ball will remain in office."
Similar views were expressed by Raymond [Robins] of Hull House, who said also that Mr. Hedrick was a man of ability.
