My dear Miss Addams:
Through our mutual friend, Mr. John C. Shaffer of Chicago, I am in receipt of your favor of the latter part of January, in which you convey to me the resolutions adopted at the last general [meetings] of the International League of Women, regarding the League of Nations.
I have been very greatly interested to read. You can understand why I am reluctant to express myself formally at the present time, but in substance I am very glad to assure you that any international relationship which our government will enter into during the new administration will be assured of the freedom and independence of action which these resolutions convey, and at the same time will have in mind the worth-while achievements which these resolutions endorse.
Warren G. Harding.
