My dear Mr McCormick:
For several years you [have] kindly sent Hull-House one hundred dollars in the month of January. While realizing that your past generosity does not constitute a claim, we should be most grateful if you felt that you could give us a like amount this year. Only with help such as yours are we able to keep on with our established activities and to respond to the many new demands of the boys and men of the neighborhood.
Hoping that I am not presuming upon your courtesy, I am,
Jane Addams [signed]
