My dear Mrs. Blaine:

There seems to be certain confusion in the minds of several people who told me they were willing to have their names used in connection with the appeal to be made by the

“Chicago Group of the American Friends Service Committee for the Relief of German Children”

because of the appeal lately issued by the

“American Relief for the German People D.A.H.”

As your name appears as Honorary Vice-President on the proposed list of the latter, I am writing to explain that the plans of the Friends (Quakers) have been delayed and that they represent quite a distinct undertaking which is about to take definite form.

Faithfully yours,

Jane Addams [signed]
