May 28th, 1917.
My dear Mrs. Cumberson:
The Board meeting was finally called for Friday, June first, at the Henry Street Settlement. I wish very much you could have been there.
The meeting of the thirty-five delegates to the Congress after the War will be held in the same place on June second, Saturday.
Your letter came just before Miss Addams left for New York and I showed her the printed form letter which accompanied it. She asked me to write you in reference to the third paragraph in which you refer to the action of the Executive Council in offering the service of the Woman's Peace Party as a unit for Red Cross or other work. I take it that this refers to the State Executive Council of California. Such action was not taken by the National Board, of course. The statement does not seem quite clear, but probably would be clear to the people of California.
Mrs. Thomas is home again. She spent about a month in Tennessee before she returned to Chicago and is resting up now after her very strenuous winter.
Sincerely yours,
Office Secretary
