Palo Alto, May 22, 1917.
My dear Mrs. Karsten: --
Pardon the delay in answering your favor of the 15th inst., which I found awaiting me on my return from Sacramento last night.
I appreciate the fact that the time mentioned by Miss Addams for a Board meeting would be very desirable and my only regret is that I shall be unable to attend. I do so feel the need of the inspiration such a meeting gives, and I trust nothing will interfere with my attending the annual meeting this fall, but if the Government continues to meddle with the canned goods industry, I do not know whether Mr. C- will have any business there to attend to. However we will hope for the best.
I would also like to attend the Conference.
You will note by the [stationery] that I have taken over the state, and am now busy trying to get the membership list in order, and plan for further organization.
What has become of Mrs. Thomas? Is she such a devoted grandmother that she has no time for her friends?
Most cordially yours,
Katherine Cumberson. [signed]
