Dear Lady: --
Mr. Francis King Carey evidently does not think that our document is "standing by the President." I thought you would be interested in this letter.
It was wonderful to have a little visit with you and Mary and you inspired us with your wisdom as you always do.
Since I am back I have been somewhat involved with the Russian situation. Cables are flying back and forth as many of the extremists of the Social Revolutionary Party of New York fear the impatience of their colleagues in Russia. I confess I felt very mixed to have the radicals here cable to Russia urging that the Council pass resolutions against a separate peace. I am sending you a copy of a cable confidentially, that was sent by one of the organizers of the Social Revolutionary Party. You will perceive that it is adroitly addressed in order to get the widest publicity value.
Give my dearest love to Mary and ask her whether she could send me one of your pictures. The one that I had and that I cherished was lost to a vicious newspaper man when you were last here and though they swore on bibles to return it their word has not been kept. Love to you both.
