June 1, 1904.

My dear Miss Addams:-

I have your letter in regard to the publication of our intention to confer upon you the degree of LL.D. Pray give yourself no concern about the [matter]. We are all so familiar with the ways of newspaper reporters that we are not disturbed and surely would not think of putting the responsibility upon you.

May I ask if you were able to see Dr. Victor Lawson in regard to the hoped-for contribution to our fund? It would now take less than $5000 to secure the conditional gift of $[3]000 from Stanley McCormick. Of course we hope to get more ultimately but I hope that we shall not have to wait long for this [balance?].

Has Miss Helen Culver returned? If she has I believe that I shall try to see her if I can possibly fine time.

Faithfully yours,

Miss Jane Addams,
Hull House,
Chicago.
