Description

The Houghton Mifflin Company was founded by Henry Oscar Houghton. Houghton initally worked out of Boston in various journalism and printing jobs before buying out one of Boston's premier printing buisiness in 1848, creating Bolles & Houghton. From the time of its inception to today, Houghton expanded its publishing lists to textbooks and educational items, including software meant for learning and teaching. Today, the company is called Houghton Mifflin Harcourt and is still located in Boston, MA.
