Biographical Text

Ella Morris Boynton spent her life advocating for peace and equality both at home and around the world. She was briefly a student at Vassar College. In the 1890s, she traveled to Ningpo, China for the Women's Baptist Foreign Missionary Society, an organization that she worked as an assistant for when she returned to Chicago. In her life, Boynton involved with a number of organizations and projects. She became associated with Jane Addams and the Hull-House, where she worked in the summer school. She was a member of the Chicago Woman's Club, the Woman's City Club, and an Interracial committee and on the boards for both the Association for Peace Education and the League of Women Voters' Forum. In addition, Boynton was the president of the Chicago chapter of the Woman's International League for Peace and Freedom, as well as the School Children's Aid Society.

Boynton died in 1928.
