May I express my regret at the premature publication of the [enclosed]. The Chronicle man had the general impression that the news came from Madison but the [dates?] [illegible] are all so wrong that it hardly seems possible., I am more or less misquoted of course and I shall be very grateful if [the] matters come up for discussion to have you explain my regret.
