Miss Jane Addams,
Hull House,
Chicago, Illinois.

My dear Miss Addams: --

I am having more difficulty in finding fitting expression to acknowledge the indebtedness of our Department to you, than any task I have been confronted with.

The invaluable help which you have offered in the Cause, and the beautiful disinterestedness which your whole relation to it has been marked by, is sincerely an inspiration to me personally. It has given me a larger and deeper understanding of the qualities which have endeared you to all the people, and a cleaner and higher point of view of the line of duty for my own life.

Any expression of thanks for us here is entirely inadequate to tell you what we would like to say.

Sincerely and faithfully yours,

 Henry F. Cochems [signed]
Chairman, Speakers Bureau.
