Miss Jane Addams,
Hull House,
Chicago, Ill.
Dear Miss Addams: --
When Mr. Henry Phipps sent in his contribution of $50 last year, his letter was directed to you personally. It therefore occurred to the Committee that if you would be willing to sign the letter appealing for a renewal of his contribution with a possible increase we would be more likely to receive a favorable reply. I enclose a letter similar to one which Prof. Seager is sending to quite a number of people and we would be glad if you would sign and forward it, or if you prefer, to redraft one for the same purpose.
Appreciating your cooperation in this matter, I am,
Sincerely yours,
Secretary.
Encl.
